Therapeutic Consultation

OUR SERVICES
Individualized Behavioral Support That Builds Independence, Safety, and Quality of Life
At ABA Behavioral Group, Therapeutic Consultation is more than addressing challenging behaviors—it's about understanding the whole person.
Our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) partner with individuals, families, Support Coordinators, residential providers, schools, and interdisciplinary teams to create practical, evidence-based strategies that help individuals achieve greater independence and participate more successfully in their homes and communities.
We proudly provide Therapeutic Consultation services throughout Virginia using in-person, telehealth, and hybrid service models.
What Is Therapeutic Consultation?
Therapeutic Consultation is a service available through Virginia's Developmental Disability (DD) Waiver that helps individuals whose behavioral, emotional, communication, or adaptive skill needs interfere with their daily life, health, safety, or community participation.
Rather than focusing solely on reducing behaviors, our approach emphasizes understanding why behaviors occur and teaching meaningful replacement skills that improve long-term outcomes. Every recommendation is individualized and developed with the person's goals, strengths, preferences, and support needs in mind.
Our Approach
Behavior is a form of communication. Our role is to understand the factors influencing behavior while helping support teams build environments where individuals can be successful.
We utilize evidence-based principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) while maintaining a person-centered, trauma-informed philosophy that values dignity, collaboration, and meaningful relationships. Every consultation is designed to support lasting change—not temporary behavior management.
